Before the Ice Age, there was the lost continent of Hyperborea, a jungle world of cruelty and beauty. This comic adaptation of the short story "The Tale of Satampra Zeiros" is a tribute to the work of Clark Ashton Smith (1893-1961), the California-based creator of the dark god Tsathogghua, ancient Hyperborea, the far-future world of Zothique and many other creations which have entered the vocabulary of science fiction and horror.

Smith's work is like a cross between Lovecraft, Poe and Robert E. Howard: pulpy fantasy action stories, poetically described, which nevertheless have an everpresent element of horror and cynicism. Smith is one of the greatest pre-Tolkien fantasy writers. In addition to a 20-page comic by Jason Thompson, it contains a map of Hyperborea and additional drawings by tattooist Adam Burns.
