Ode to Kirihito

The Monmow disease intrudes the body of a young doctor named Kirihito Osanai. The disease transforms humans into dog-like beasts and kills them within a month of the metamorphosis. While Kirihito studies the pathology of the disease, he becomes a guinea pig for his hospital's research. Under the auspices of research, the hospital sends Kirihito to a remote village in the mountains where he contracts the Monmow disease. A series of misfortunes estranges him from Izumi Yoshinaga, his fiancée and the daughter of the hospital's director, and Urabe, his friend and rival.
