Years 1956-1961 of DC Finest: The Flash
A new age in comics called for a new Flash, and in 1956's SHOWCASE #4, police scientist Barry Allen inherited that mantle when a lab accident granted him super-speed abilities. Drawing inspiration from his childhood comic book hero, Barry donned a scarlet costume and became the Silver Age version of the Flash!
As the latest iteration of the Scarlet Speedster, Barry could run at amazing speeds, create whirlwinds with his arms, and vibrate his molecules so fast that he could cross barriers between realities. These abilities would help him become one of the most important characters in the pre-Crisis era.
This volume contains stories from September 1956 to September 1961, including Barry's origin in "The Mystery of the Human Thunderbolt!", the first appearances of classic rogues such as Mirror-Master and Captain Cold, and the monumental meeting between Barry and Jay Garrick in "Flash of Two Worlds". Collects SHOWCASE #4, #8, #13-14 and THE FLASH #105-123.
